HARRY POTTER and the PHILOSOPHERS’S STONE NAMED BEST BOOK!
UK book chain Waterstone’s announced the Top 25 Books of the Past 25 years, as voted for by their customers, and the number one book on the list was Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. The announcement was made to celebrate the chains silver jubilee and the nominations were made by publishers, editors and agents.
Gerry Johnson, Managing Director of Waterstone’s, unveiled the list yesterday and said:
When Waterstone’s asked the publishing industry to tell us who they thought would be the great talents of our second quarter century, we received a wonderful and eclectic array of nominations covering all tastes and genres.
It was incredibly tough to choose just 25 of them, but I think our final list includes a sparkling selection of talent - these authors will be on the bestseller and the awards lists for years to come.
